Members of Prokon Regenerative Energien eG have established the energy cooperative Windauf eG to actively participate in projects for renewable energies - wind and solar parks. The Windauf eG works closely with Prokon.
What does this mean for you as a Prokon member? As a Prokon member, you can make a direct contribution to climate protection by participating in Windauf.
The best part: the projects do not have to be sold to third parties but remain within the "family". Looking into the crystal ball, in the future, both cooperatives could merge if our members decide to do so, for example, after the full repayment of the Prokon bond.

The energy cooperative Windauf eG aims to provide a platform, particularly for members of Prokon eG, but also for other interested citizens and businesses, to make a direct contribution to climate protection through their own initiative and to support the energy transition. Windauf eG works in close cooperation with Prokon eG. Windauf eG intends to operate wind farms and photovoltaic installations, as well as to acquire or participate in already constructed wind farms or photovoltaic installations that are already operational.
Windauf eG finances itself essentially from two sources, as is the case with all companies. On the one hand, from equity capital, which for Windauf eG mainly consists of the business shares of investing members, and on the other hand from debt capital, such as liabilities.
Windauf eG either acquires already constructed wind farms or photovoltaic plants already in operation or takes a stake in such projects. The primary point of contact for the acquisition of already constructed wind farms is the Prokon cooperative. However, the acquisition of wind farms or photovoltaic plants from the open market is also generally conceivable. The same applies to participations. The cooperative association reviews both cooperatives, Windauf eG and Prokon eG, and through its judgment provides assurance to any external party of the proper conduct of both companies.
Prokon eG and its members gain significant advantages through Windauf eG:
Prokon achieves market-standard project returns through the sale to Windauf eG. This has been proven by a valuation report provided by a certified public accountant.
Prokon serves as the service provider for Windauf eG and takes on the long-term operation and maintenance of the wind farms. This strengthens Prokon eG's earning capacity. The Cooperative Association audits both cooperatives and, with its verdict, offers outsiders assurance that both companies are acting correctly.
Members of Prokon can economically participate in the success of completed projects by joining Windauf eG and enjoy a reasonable return due to the favourable cost structure of Windauf eG.
Like all other investing members, Prokon eG receives a guaranteed minimum interest rate of 2.5% per annum on its contributed capital.
By investing in Windauf eG, the members can make a significant contribution to promoting the citizen-led energy transition, as the projects are not sold to third parties.
In the long term, if the members decide so, both cooperatives could also merge, for instance, after the full repayment of the Prokon bond.
Unlike Prokon eG, Windauf eG only accepts new members and additional subscriptions during defined subscription phases for specific projects. You can easily become an investing member during a subscription phase through the online portal of Windauf eG at www.windauf.de. All you need is your own email address. Click on "Become a Member" or "Login" and register. You can then subscribe to the membership. Upon joining, you are required to take on at least two shares (2x 500 Euros) in Windauf eG. After completing the subscription, you will receive an email from Windauf eG with the contract documents and further information about the next steps. After receiving your membership application and its review, the supervisory board must approve your admission as an investing member by countersigning the membership application. Following that, Windauf eG will send you a request for payment of your subscribed shares. Your membership with Windauf eG will be officially confirmed once the payment for your subscribed shares has been received in full.
