The Wind Suitability Area Friedersdorf (Märkisch-Oderland district) has huge potential. Currently, 22 wind turbines from a total of four project developers are planned or already under construction. Prokon is implementing four wind turbines with an installed capacity of 22 MW. The turbines from GE Vernova (General Electric) have a hub height of 161 meters and rotors with a diameter of 158 meters. As the wind farm is being built on a former battleground where the last tank battle took place in 1945, the area had to be cleared of munitions before construction began.
In addition to the key data of the wind farm, the sponsorship for one of the turbines by WEtell, a sustainable mobile phone provider, is intriguing. As an active member of Prokon, WEtell is committed not only to expanding renewable energy but also to making a significant contribution to the energy transition. This collaboration highlights the importance of collective efforts and sustainable partnerships to ensure a green and sustainable energy supply for the future.

WEtell is an active member of the Prokon Energy Cooperative with an investment of 100,000 euros, thereby taking responsibility for the energy transition. To concretely underpin its responsibility for climate protection and to send a strong signal for the expansion of renewable energy, WEtell has taken sponsorship of one of the wind turbines. This also symbolically highlights the importance of wind turbines for a sustainable energy future.
The first plant is expected to be commissioned at the end of November 2024.
