Prokon eG has successfully completed the construction of its first photovoltaic ground-mounted project in Rhineland-Palatinate: the Walshausen Solar farm. A high-performance ground-mounted system with around 8 MWp was installed on an area of ten hectares. The project is complemented by a battery storage system with a capacity of 2.2 megawatt-hours and a power output of approximately 2 MW. With this project, Prokon expands its portfolio and underscores its commitment to a sustainable energy future. While the solar farm has already been completed, the grid connection is still pending. Commissioning is expected in the fourth quarter of 2024, once the required cable route to the grid connection point is completed.

The solar park has already been fully constructed, but the grid connection is delayed due to the cable route not yet being completed. This delay occurred because the grid connection point changed during the planning and implementation phase. As a result, new permits had to be obtained, and the route of the cable had to be adjusted.
The delay in the grid connection is resulting in additional costs for the replanning and construction of the new cable route. In addition, the planned revenues from power generation are being delayed. The municipality will not be able to receive its entitled share of 0.2 cents per kilowatt hour of generated energy until the actual feed-in of the electricity.
Currently, no use of the new cable route by additional facilities is planned. Therefore, there are no direct impacts on potential further projects in the region for the time being.
