On Saturday, June 8, Prokon celebrated the Wind Park Festival Hakenstedt III in the municipal area of Erxleben. With brilliant weather and a variety of activities for all ages, the festival was a great success and laid an excellent foundation for future events of this kind. The event took place at the foot of one of our Vestas turbines and thus at the core of our company's DNA, allowing all attendees a close-up experience of this technology.
The festival offered entertainment for all age groups, information about renewable energy, and exciting expert lectures. A highlight was the raffle, in which eight rides to one of the wind turbines were given away. At a lofty height of 95 meters, the well-secured winners enjoyed the view of the District of Börde and got up close to the large rotor blades. For those who preferred to stay on solid ground, there was the opportunity to experience the ascent through virtual reality goggles. In the three tents, there was also the chance to learn about Prokon, project development, Prokon electricity, and membership in the energy cooperative.
Particularly impressive was the enthusiasm of our employees, who were fully engaged and passionate about the cause. The pride of our members in being part of this community was clearly noticeable. Thjorge Vollstedt, Event Manager at Prokon, emphasized: "With events like these, we want to celebrate wind energy together with the citizens and make the energy transition tangible".
Even the little ones got their money's worth: A bouncy castle, a children's tent with a crafting programme, and a tasty snack offering ensured a lot of fun. The scientific programme with lectures by Dr. Volker Stelzer from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and Torsten Nonnemann from Prokon provided interesting insights into the importance of renewable energies and project development at Prokon.
The five wind turbines of Hakenstedt III have produced around 270 million kilowatt-hours of green electricity since 2008. Prokon operates a total of six wind farms in the Magdeburg Börde. The feedback from the 350 visitors was consistently positive. Many came specifically to express their thanks for the great event. Comments such as "Fascinating to be so close to our wind turbines" reflected the enthusiasm of the guests.
Katharina Kreft and Thjorge Vollstedt created a great atmosphere with their entertaining moderation.
The wind farm festival was the first since 2018, and the successful event has motivated us to continue this tradition. Another festival in the southwest of Germany is already planned for September. We look forward to many more such events that strengthen the community and make the energy transition tangible.
