Wind is what drives us. In order to be able to feed as much clean energy as possible into the grid with our turbines, high technical availability is of the utmost importance. To achieve this, we ensure smooth operation of all Prokon wind farms with our own employees.
For the optimal performance of our wind turbines, medium-voltage transformer stations, medium-voltage transfer stations, and substations, we are operating day and night.
We deliberately work independently of manufacturers in maintenance and service. Our five service centres throughout Germany are each located in close proximity to the Prokon wind farms. This allows our qualified service teams to quickly respond to disruptions in wind turbines and ensure an availability of over 97%.

Technical support
We recognise the need for optimisation in our process flows and implement improvements in collaboration with the software products used. We continuously review and update the technical circumstances and legal requirements, such as demand-oriented night marking, critical infrastructure, redispatch, and safety-related specifications. Additionally, we develop solutions that consider all interfaces and process flows in the field of service & operation of wind turbines.
With pride, we look back on a long history in the service and operation of wind turbines (SOW).
1995
So it all began:
Establishment of Prokon
2002
First times
first own technical operational management
first service team with two technicians
own service base founded in Beeskow
2004
Build Up Oil Service
2005
Establishing our own warehouse, previously Northex commission warehouse
2007
The first wind farms are taken over in service and maintenance.
2010
We are getting bigger
Building large component department
Establishment of own rotor blade team
Base in Hohendodeleben
2011
First large component team, first component exchange
2012
We keep going
first gearbox repair
start of construction of Hall D
base Bruch Mühlbach-Miesau (RLP)
2014
Additional bases, now also abroad
Base Bexbach (RLP)
Service Base Belchatow in Poland
2017
Base Stendal
2021
Establishment of Prokon Renewable Energy Service GmbH (Pros)
2022
Takeover of SH Wind GmbH by Prokon
Warehouse near the wind farms
Our service hubs and warehouses across Germany provide us with high flexibility and fast response times.
Extensive technical expertise
Over the years, we have accumulated specialist knowledge about 70 different types of turbines – and the number keeps growing!
Everything from a single source
… from major component maintenance to technical operations management, as well as electrical laboratory services and billing.
With around 30 years of experience in servicing and maintaining wind turbines from all major manufacturers, we have access to a level of expertise that is unmatched in the industry. We do not keep this knowledge to ourselves. In Prokon Renewable Energy Service GmbH (Pros for short), we have consolidated our skills and offer them as a service to other wind farms.
What is the Operational Lifespan of a Turbine?
Basically, the operation of the facilities is calculated or designed for 20 years. Due to legal regulations, there is the possibility to apply for an extension of operation at some locations. Depending on the approval and economic viability, an extension of operation of between 5 and 15 years is possible.
How long does it take to change a gearbox?
Depending on the manufacturer, type of plant, and plant capacity, a gearbox replacement takes between 5 and 8 days.
How long does it take to climb a turbine?
Depending on the height of the plant, climbing the WEA via the ladder in the tower takes 10 - 20 minutes. The new and taller plants are equipped with a climbing system (lift).
